If you’ve picked up a copy of the Fabulous Places Derbyshire Guide you’ll recognise these images below. They’re illustrated by the fabulous Lucy Sheeran. I first came across Lucy’s work a couple of years back when I popped into the Opus Gallery in Ashbourne and spotted a card Lucy had produced. Since then Lucy has become a big part of Fabulous Places, attends the handpicked events and has illustrated all kinds of things for me including the 1st Birthday invitations for my little girl.
I thought I would share a couple of illustrations with you.
It seems only yesterday I launched the website at the Belper Food Festival, but that was back in July 2008! Time sure does fly by when you’re having fun. It’s amazing to see how popular the website has become. The feedback and popularity has spurred me on to launch handpicked food and gift events and also publish two printed guides. I’m really excited to tell you all about my plans for 2012! As always, I’ll be out and about bringing you all the very best shops, cafes, eateries, makers and much more, but there’s also all this lovely stuff going on…

The guide will also be available at the next fabulousplaces.co.uk event (click here for details). The pocket guide will be perfect to keep with you, so wherever you are in Derbyshire you can check where the nearest fabulous place is!
I thought I would give preview of a handful of the pages…
As soon as the guide is out there and available I will let you know where you can collect your free copy!
I am very happy to let you know about a new publication from fabulousplaces.co.uk…the etc. guide will be a magazine style guide reflecting everything the website offers and some extra fabulous bits too! The first issue will focus on Derbyshire and will be something you can proudly keep on your coffee table or take out and about with you throughout the year.
I am thrilled to be working on the magazine with a good friend, Claire Sutton. Claire is a fab home cook, a talented photographer and shares many of the interests I have too, so the collaboration was an easy decision. Claire runs a blog called Things We Make and some of Claire’s recipes have featured on the fabulousplaces.co.uk blog over the last 12 months.
We’re very excited about the publication…if you love the places, makers and services featured on fabulousplaces.co.uk, great food and Derbyshire then I’m sure you’ll love flicking through the magazine. We’ve had such fun over the last 8 months…photo shoots, baking, eating, visiting talented makers and much more…our aim is for the magazine to have a real feel good appearance and reflect our passions for food, Derbyshire, great photography, local makers and artisans.
You can follow the etc guide on twitter where we’ll keep you up to date with the latest news and also let you know when it’s available. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch…we would love to hear your thoughts!
