all the fun of the Market

July 10th, 2013 § 1

Sunday saw the third Summer Market at the gorgeous Roundhouse in Derby.  The event annually brings together an array of handpicked food producers, makers, shop owners, farm shops and so much more.  Each year I am even more amazed with what can be found in and around Derbyshire.

This year the sun not only had his hat on, he was waving a flag…it was a glorious day which mean the Plaza was full of shoppers enjoying wood fired pizzas, bbq, pimms, ice cream, the list goes on!  Indoors was full to bursting with tempting gifts and delicious food… and not forgetting the ever so popular Vintage Tea Room presented by Darby and Joan.

A big thank you to all the exhibitors for displaying so creatively giving visitors a real feast for the eyes.  Thank you also to if you visited  the event, I hope you have a super time and look forward to welcoming you to the Christmas Market back at The Roundhouse later this year (16/17 Nov).

Below are a selection of photographs I’ve snapped during the day.  It’s always difficult to find time to take photographs, but I think I’ve managed to take a selection giving the overall feel of the event…if you didn’t make it along, take a look at what you missed!

What a great weekend!
The fabulousplaces.co.uk Summer Food & Gift Fair arrived at The Roundhouse on Pride Park!  A huge thank you to all the fabulous exhibitors who made the Summer Food & Gift Fair a wonderful weekend of handpicked gifts, handmade products, delicious food and fab services.  If you were a visitor over the weekend I hope you had a wonderful time and enjoyed browsing the stands!  What I loved to see was so many visitors enjoying a champagne cocktail relaxing on the grass, perfect!

For me, each event I hold now feels like a great get together, the atmosphere is unlike any other event and I pride myself on bringing you a selection of food and gifts produced by passionate and friendly people.  I believe the events are different, they’re completely handpicked with each business being personally invited to attend.  I was delighted to work with some great new businesses this year including Grandpa Lew’s, Ginger King Campers, Lily Mosaics, Robyn Jane,  The Finesse Collection, My Little Loves, The Mouse House, Cornelius Potts & Uncle Monty, The Little Dog, Brocklebeys, The School of Artisan Food and many more!

December 4th, 2009 § 0

picture-1

As part of Derby’s seasonal celebrations, the city’s Market Place will play host to a Christmas Playground from 7th December until 6th January.

Unique to Derby the ‘Christmas Playground’ will feature giant wooden toy sculptures which will provide a play area for visitors to the city centre seeking a rest from Christmas shopping. Children will be encouraged to climb aboard the giant toys – carved by local wood sculptor Andrew Frost – and let their imagination run wild.

Jack Rabbits publish first book!

November 4th, 2009 § 0

I was excited to get my hands on a copy of the new book from Jack Rabbits.  Written by the owner, Amelia Horne, the book, Forty Nine; A refreshing approach to everyday foods, brings together everything we love about Jack Rabbits.

Forty Nine is designed to offer a structure to the meals you eat, the ingredients you use and to simplify mealtimes.  This book is a must for your Christmas stocking list!

It’s fantastic to see a fabulous place publish a book and what I love is that it’s stylishly designed, visually pleasing to flick through, inspirational and a great addition to my cook book shelf!  The book is just £10 and you can purchase your copy of Jack Rabbits on Queen Street in Derby.  For more information about Jack Rabbits please click here.

Amelia will be selling the book at the upcoming fabulousplaces.co.uk Christmas Market at Blackbrook House (nr Belper) on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November 2009 (11am – 5pm).  For full information please click here.
