I am very happy to let you know about a new publication from fabulousplaces.co.uk…the etc. guide will be a magazine style guide reflecting everything the website offers and some extra fabulous bits too! The first issue will focus on Derbyshire and will be something you can proudly keep on your coffee table or take out and about with you throughout the year.
I am thrilled to be working on the magazine with a good friend, Claire Sutton. Claire is a fab home cook, a talented photographer and shares many of the interests I have too, so the collaboration was an easy decision. Claire runs a blog called Things We Make and some of Claire’s recipes have featured on the fabulousplaces.co.uk blog over the last 12 months.
We’re very excited about the publication…if you love the places, makers and services featured on fabulousplaces.co.uk, great food and Derbyshire then I’m sure you’ll love flicking through the magazine. We’ve had such fun over the last 8 months…photo shoots, baking, eating, visiting talented makers and much more…our aim is for the magazine to have a real feel good appearance and reflect our passions for food, Derbyshire, great photography, local makers and artisans.
You can follow the etc guide on twitter where we’ll keep you up to date with the latest news and also let you know when it’s available. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch…we would love to hear your thoughts!

If you visited the fabulousplaces.co.uk Christmas Market you probably spotted the gorgeous real Christmas trees at the entrance and in the foyer. These were from the wonderful and local The Little Tree Company who offer a great opportunity to hire a real tree for Christmas.
This got me thinking…I love real Christmas trees and we used to have one each year, but after a while I felt it was such a waste so we invested in an artificial tree which looked as close to ‘real’ as possible. After being surrounded by real trees at the event I decided to hire our tree from The Little Tree Company this year…it makes so much sense and means I can enjoy the wonderful aroma of a real tree again, I missed that!! The tree is delivered when I want it and collected after Christmas to be replanted.
If you like the idea of hiring a Christmas tree this year click here for more information.
My tree is scheduled to arrive on the 1st December…I’ll post a photo of it when it’s decorated!
